Upcoming Tournaments

Summit Rookie Round Robin Tournament

For all of our 1st and 2nd year wrestlers there is a great end of season tournament held at the Abington Heights High School in Clarks Summit on March 4th. This is a great time for our newer members. Applications will be available at Wednesday & Thursday's practice .

Area X / State Qualifier

The Pennsylvania Youth Wrestling Association holds a state wrestling tournament every year to determine the best wrestlers in our state. This tournament is open to all Pennsylvania residents regardless of league participation. Here's how the process works:

The state is broken down into 11 Areas. We are part of Area X which covers 15 counties in Northeast and Central Pa. There are three Area X qualifier tournaments preceding the Area X championship. The top three finishers from each Area X qualifier will advance to the Area X tourament. The top two finishers from the Area X tourament will then advance to the state championship tournament. This year the Area X qualifier closest to us is being held at Tunkhannock High School on March 4th. The Area X championship tournament is scheduled for March 18th in Williamsport Pa and the Pennsylvania State Championship is scheduled March 23rd and 24th in Hershey Pa.  Click on the link below to download an application or go towww.pajw.org for more info.

All parents:  Please note that it is the policy of Scranton Junior Wrestling to only admit wrestlers and coaches inside the wrestling room during team practices.  This policy has not been strictly enforced in the past but due to safety concerns must be followed starting immediately.  We ask that all parents please remain outside of the wrestling room during team practices and refrain from walking on the mats while wearing shoes worn ourdoors.  There is a serious concern by all wrestling organizations that dirt & germs carried in from street shoes can be transfered to the wrestling mat that our boys are rolling on.  We would like to take every precaution possible to protect our young children.  Additionaly, as everyone can see, there is very little room to move around with the number of wrestlers on the mat.  We would like to give our boys room to work without risking injury.  Any parent interested in becoming a coach, even if it's only during practice, can notify someone in our club.  Your participation will be more than welcome.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
